It pains me to a great extent to read the biased and judgmental coverage of communal riots in UP by english media including print media. Everyone in the name of secularism is trying to portray one community as victim and other as perpetator. No one is keen to present the complete picture. It might ignite the sentiments and emotions in other parts of the country, which can be used by pseudo custodians of the religions to flare communal violence else where too.
Communal violence of any nature should be condemned but not by depicting distorted image. National newspapers have a moral and ethical duty to encourage writers and journalists with unbiased views. Some writers use secularism a tool make a failed attempt to achieve intellectual orgasm. It must not be encouraged and accepted. Both the communties have suffered equally. It is shame for a government which pro actively removed an IAS officer to maintain communal harmony but delayed it’s reaction when desperately needed. Politicians have taken sides to secure vote bank. The plight of the victims have been given blind eyes and deaf ears. Media and politics are the pillars of the democracy. I feel sorry for myself as both have disappointed me.
